Measure the finished opening width in three places: near the top, at the center, and near the threshold. Record all three measurements and use the smallest one when checking a product's adjustable-width range. Then measure the finished height from the threshold to the planned top of the door.
Also check whether both walls are plumb and whether the threshold is level. A shower opening can be the correct width but still create installation problems if the walls lean inward or outward.

Some sliding-door models use a rail that can be trimmed to fit the opening. The allowed adjustment and cutting procedure vary by model. Read the product-specific instructions before cutting, measure more than once, and confirm which end of the rail can be shortened. A rail cut too short may need to be replaced.
Glass panels and hardware are often packaged separately to reduce damage and make each package easier to handle. A complete shower-door system may arrive in two or three boxes, and carriers may deliver them at different times.
Before beginning installation, confirm that you have received every glass panel, rail, roller, handle, seal, guide, fastener, and wall-mounting component shown on the packing list.
Squeaking, scraping, or uneven movement may result from an incorrectly adjusted roller, an unlevel rail, loose hardware, debris, or misaligned glass. Stop using the door if the glass contacts metal or another glass panel.

"Frameless" generally means the glass does not have a full metal frame around every edge. Sliding systems still require structural hardware such as a top rail, rollers, wall mounts, guides, and handles. The reduced metal profile creates the clean, open appearance associated with frameless designs.
